Finding the Right Concealed Carry Holster

By Dustin Aaron

Once you make the choice to wear a concealed carry pistol, you need to answer a few questions. You need to decide what type of firearm you will buy, where on your body will you wear it, and the type of holster will you carry it in.

An Inside the Waistband (IWB) holster gets attached to your belt by way of metal clips, and it can be fixed at any location around your waist band. Inside the Waistband holsters only let the handle of your handgun rise above the waistband. These inside the waistband holsters allow for surprisingly simple firearm access, however, you often have to keep your shirt un-tucked to wear one properly. However, many inside the waistband holsters do allow you to tuck your shirt in.

An outside the waistband holster is quite similar to an Inside the Waistband holster, the major difference being that you wear it outside of your trousers. Outside the waistband holsters are difficult to conceal and generally necessitate wearing a jacket, vest, or long t-shirt. They are great because they don't require you to wear larger pants like inside the waistband holsters do.

There are also small of the back holsters that are fantastic for hiding large caliber pistols, but these are also quite slow to access if you are driving an automobile. Small of the back holsters have garnered a terrible reputation for being the cause of numerous spinal injuries. If you fall on your back while wearing a large handgun against your spine, you are going to incur serious spinal injuries. Consequently, several law enforcement agencies have restricted their members from wearing these types of holsters.

Whenever you have decided on your carry method, make sure you buy a good holster. Make sure it is from a trusted company and that it is comfortable to dress in. De Santis, Galco, Blackhawk and Don Hume Leather goods are just a few of the vendors who manufacture superior products. Another solution is to have a holster custom produced to fit you and your pistol. Having one custom personalized will provide a comfortable holster that will match your requirements exactly. Some incredibly good custom holster makers out there include El Paso Saddlery and A Touch of Yellow Leatherwerkes. Price ranges for custom holsters are normally similar to a mass produced holster but may just take a little time to manufacture.

Get The Best AK 47 Accessories

By Celia Hall

Weighing a mere nine pounds, this is combination of plywood and steel won't jam, overheat or breakdown. The legendary AK 47 will shoot if its caked in mud or packed with sand These qualities have made this gun the most extensively used and most well-liked assault rifle the world has ever known. This long-lasting popularity creates an almost infinite demand for AK 47 accessories.

This gun was first developed in the old USSR after the Second World War. Mikhail Kalashnikov designed the weapon over the years between 1944 and 1947. His original design was entered into a state competition to produce a reliable assault rifle to work well in wet, muddy and frozen conditions. Kalashnikov created a rifle that could be used whilst wearing gloves in Arctic weather.

The 7.62 x 39 mm selective-fire, gas-operated, tough, hard-wearing and resilient assault rifle has been sold in greater numbers than all the other assault rifle patterns added together. Its unfussy design and efficient proportions have been updated and improved upon many times since first beginning service with Soviet troops in 1949. The bulk of the Warsaw Pact allies also employed this trustworthy weapon. More or less five million were generated in the Soviet Union and modern versions are even now made in lots of places around the globe.

With a hefty gas piston and generous clearance for the gun's moving mechanisms, it is able to proficiently cope with profuse measures of dust, dirt or sand and will still manage to cycle. The interior of the gas cylinder, the bore, the gas piston and the chamber, all are treated with a chromium plating which prolongs the working life of the elements and boosts resistance to corrosion and deterioration. The AK 47 is also straightforward to look after, fire and keep clean.

Kalashnikov's classic design features a breech-block, a curved magazine and gas operation. Many of the features were put together from previous innovations in rifle technology. The trigger, unlocking raceway and double-locking lugs were adapted from the American M1 Garand/carbine. Browning's safety mechanism from the Remington Model 8 rifle, and the gas system of the German Sturmgewehr 44 were also added into the AK 47.

In the semi-automatic setting, an AK 47 lets off a single shot every time the leaver is pushed and then freed. The full-automatic mode means that the rifle will automatically continue to shoot, cycling rounds into the chamber up until its magazine is emptied of shells, or the trigger is released. The ordinary magazine holds thirty bullets.

All state-of-the-art models can have a forty millimeter, under-barrel grenade launcher attached, with the capacity to launch up to twenty high-explosive rounds per minute, with a top range of nearly four hundred meters. An optional cup-type missile launcher is able to screw onto the muzzle with the slightly more limited scope of a mere hundred and fifty meters. PBS silencers and muzzle-fitting bayonets or knives are other elective fittings.

AK 47 accessories available include hand-guards, scope mounts, sights and buttstock decals. Desert tan camouflage, red Romanian and Hungarian varieties can be purchased on-line. Night sights, speed loaders and dual magazine clamps can all be added to boost the small arm's efficiency. There are many suppliers offering various pieces that can be added to the gun in order to get the best possible result, however, be wary of fakes and fraudsters, only purchase from a reputable dealer.

A Clean Kill Shot

By Mike Westmoreland

Any respectable hunter is aware that delivering a solid kill shot is not only humane and ethical but it needs to be something we all make an effort to do consistently. Squirrel hunters are no exception but we're confronted by an issue that other hunters do not; really small targets. This is why it's essential for squirrel hunters to be proficient using their firearms and consider ever shot they take.

No one can make a perfect shot 100% of the time but if you are faced with a wounded animal (due to a not-so-accurate shot) what should you do? The very first thing you should consider about ethical hunting is an accurate shot. You might use a shooting stick to increase your accuracy, be familiar with how your firearm shoots, know a bullets path and most importantly, know where to hit your target. The most productive and humane shot a squirrel hunter might take is a head shot. Needless to say that it is the toughest shot to make due to the size of the targets head, but this shot will deliver an instantaneous death and will bring no suffering to your prey.

The second, and often most utilized, shot is the neck/chest shot. You are given a somewhat larger place to hit and the death of the animal is close to instant, minimizing the suffering it may face. If you are unable to make a head shot, move your aim down a little bit and go for the neck (severing the spinal-cord) or aim for the chest. A solid chest shot will usually hit a vital organ or two and the animal with die quickly, with little suffering.

One last factor to weigh is what to do should you hit a squirrel and it isn't a fatal shot? There's several factors to consider here. First, can you take a second shot and put it out of its misery safely? If so, go for it. If you can't take a secondary safe shot use a knife to end its suffering BUT.. and I can't stress this enough.. MAKE SURE YOU CAN DO SO WITHOUT ENDANGERING YOURSELF!

Use caution when approaching an injured animal. If you can get close enough to see that it cannot hurt you, go ahead and finish it off. If you are unsure, try moving to position to take a second shot at it. You can also consider hitting it in the head with a long stick to help you maintain a safe distance. DO NOT use the butt of your gun! MISFIRES CAN AND WILL HAPPEN if you neglect your firearm and using it as a "club" could create a very dangerous outcome.

Be considerate when you're hunting and strive to always make clean and humane kill shots but don't forget that your safety is more valuable.

Support For New Whitetail Deer Hunters

By Bill Robertson

The physical evidence of deer browsing on leaves, twigs, agricultural crops and natural fruits represent a unique type of deer sign. It adds one more piece to the puzzle and confirms that an area deserves your closed scrutiny. An area rich in food should also support a herd of deer. If you cannot find evidence of feeding within an area, it may still serve as a travel corridor for deer, but you will have to find other signs, such as tracks and trails, to confirm this.

To find evidence of feeding, you need to know what deer eats, which includes more than 6-different plants. As browsing animals, they randomly nip off small leaves, twigs and buds of many trees and shrubs. In northern forests, white cedar, maples, dogwood, aspen and blueberry are important natural foods. In the south deer prefer greenbriers, black gum, maples, honeysuckle, sumac and kudzu. Generally, they prefer new growth. In starvation times, however, deer will eat pencil-thick stems.

Across the whitetail country, the acorns of oak trees remain a basic food source from late summer through the winter. Fifty-four different species of oaks grow in North America, and almost every species produces acorns crucial to deer. White oaks and black oaks are the two categories of all oaks. Typically, the white oaks produce "sweeter acorns", and black-oak acorns are somewhat bitter. Deer exhibit liking the very sweetest whites better, such as the chinquapin, the post and swamp white oak. On the other hand, black oaks produce acorns more consistently than white oaks, and deer eats black-oak acorns in times when white oaks do not bear fruit.

Squirrels shuck the shell of the acorn. Deer, on the other hand, eat acorns whole so the physical signs of such a meal are elusive. If you look close, you may detect some commotion in leaf litter associated with deer, or you may encounter some tracks in exposed dirt underneath oaks. Parallel wind rows of leaves usually indicate feeding activity of wild turkeys. With snow cover, you can easily distinguish where deer have pawed down to find acorns.

Important agricultural crops that deer utilizes include corn, soybeans, apples and alfalfa. Deer eats these foods in many different stages. In an apple orchard, for example, deer will browse on apple twigs as well as eat the fruit itself. In a cornfield, deer will nip off the tops of the stalk and silk as well as the mature ear. Given a crack at shelled corn, they will chow down with relish. Frequently, they will also carry a cob of corn with them as they leave a feeder or field.

Deer lack incisor teeth in the front of the upper jaw; hence they cannot nearly "bite" off stems. Alternatively, a deer utilized its lower canine teeth to press a stem or leaf against the upper jaw and then tears away a mouthful. The remaining stem or leaf shows a jagged edge. By contrast, neatly-pruned stems low to the ground is more than likely rabbit activity. Broken branches of apple and cherry trees as a whole represent the work of a bear. The raccoon will break down stalks of corn. Deer is dainty eaters by equivalence.

Enjoy The Thrill Of Argentina Dove Hunting

By Noemi Wallner

Any hunter who wants the thrill of shooting thousands of shells a day with no bag limit should seriously consider Argentina dove hunting. The birds in question are the Zenaida Auriculata, also known commonly as the Eared Dove due to the distinctive blue/black ear coverts specific to this species. Their shining plumage also gives them the alternative name of Golden Doves, palomas dorados.

The Eared species is endemic to almost the entire South American continent. Estimates put the population in the region of fifty million birds. These huge numbers mean that most farmers consider the birds to be a pest, and it is claimed that they can destroy up to forty percent of the harvest.

Groups of Eared Doves are alleged to "darken the skies" whilst they fly from their immense communal roosts to the golden agricultural lands on which they feed. This beautiful landscape, good climate, and thriving fields of grain crops create a profuse food supply to these tropical birds of the New World. The lakes, savannahs, mountains, rivers, pampas and thickly-forested hillsides permit doves to prosper, and make for a perfect trip to do some Argentina hunting.

Argentina has worldwide recognition as the perfect destination for bird hunting. The undulating Golden Triangle to the north of Cordoba is known as the prime location. Next largest behind Buenos Aries', the city of Cordoba has more than enough flights to be had in and out of the Pajas Blancas International Airport. Many dedicated lodges and ranch houses offer to look after the paperwork requisite for importing guns into the country. Another great activity to look into is Argentina duck hunting

The Eared Dove is typically around twenty-four centimetres long and weighs roughly one hundred and twelve grams. Their over-sized wingspan produces great manoeuvrability. These fast, agile birds provide varied and testing shoots.

A typical shooting day sees something like two thousand cartridges discharged by each participant, from sun up to sun down. A bird count may average between forty and eighty per cent depending on ability. At least a pair of 20-gauge shotguns per hunter is suggested, so that hot barrels can cool down from such heavy shooting.

Argentina dove hunting trips should be seen as a holiday as well as a shooting adventure. Mountain sports, Dorado fishing, passionate football stadia, culture and nightlife are all on offer. Most hunts stop to lunch on "asados", famous Argentinean beef barbecued with flair and flavour. Wash it down with Malbec, the renowned local red wine. Take in a polo match, play golf or take a horseback trek through the pampas. This country has something for everyone.

How to Squirrel Hunt, the Basics

By Mike Westmoreland

Well before any amateur hunter enters the woods, he/she should get acquainted with the firearm they will be using, get comfortable shooting it and know the laws regarding the sport. Squirrel hunting has been an enjoyable sport for numerous generations and being SAFE is the key to having an productive outing.

Just how do I locate squirrels? Do I have the right gun? What things can I do to be safe? How do you get close enough to acquire a shot? How do I clean a squirrel? This is just a sample of the possible questions that a novice hunter may have that will limit the enjoyment of squirrel hunting. Below, you will find information that will outline the basic hunting techniques used to locate squirrels and get a shot off safely.

Squirrels are cautious, yet curious creatures and can regularly be tough to locate, but with a little wit and common sense you can have a successful hunt your initial time out! Plus, squirrels offer a nutritious source of food. Squirrel meat is low in fat and cholesterol, and tastes delicious too!First, let's evaluate Hunting Methods: There are various ways a person can hunt squirrels, however the two methods frequently mentioned are: SIT and WAIT, or STALK.

SIT AND WAIT: This method is rather self explanatory. You locate a spot that has the potential to draw in squirrels and you sit down and then wait for them to get within shooting range. This method is sometimes utilized best when trees are in full foliage and it is difficult to see squirrels moving along branches. Look for moving leaves, shaking branches and other movement in the foliage that indicates squirrels may be scurrying along the limbs above. Also, always scan your surroundings because often enough, you'll catch the "flash" of a squirrel tail in between tree limbs.

STALK: Stalking squirrels refers to hunting squirrels while on the move. This can be a a bit more tricky than sitting and waiting, but the truth is that you can cover more ground and potentially expose yourself to better hunting areas as you stalk. Stalking places a touch of emphasis on woodsmanship (i.e. walking quietly, knowing when to move and when to hold still, etc) so a squirrel hunter on the move needs to glide quietly through the woods. When the ground is damp, walking can be much quieter, however when it's dry, you'll have to watch your step so you do not break sticks or crunch too many leaves under foot and scare away squirrels before you can get close enough to get a shot off.

When stalking, take a tiny amount of steps and then wait, look and listen. If you don't see or hear anything, move again. Continue this method until you hear cutting, see movement in the trees or locate a food source that you can watch for a while. Remember, you have to stop occasionally to listen for cutting and movement in the trees while watching where you walk and for motion in the branches above. When you see or hear a sign of a squirrel, move slowly toward the direction of the sound. Stop and wait again for more signs.

Generally, when you're moving and a squirrel is aware of you, they won't move either. This is why it is recommended to stalk and stop. After a period of sitting still, the squirrels usually get comfortable and will start to stir again. This is your opportunity to take your shot or get yourself closer into position to make that shot. A good hunter can incorporate portions of both of these techniques to produce the best hunting potential for your hunting style. These Squirrel Hunting Basics should get you started on the way to a successful hunting adventure.

Searching For Taxidermy For Sale

By Chloe Gib

When you decorate a room, there are some important decisions to make. Some might choose patterns and paints to use when they furnish. Small trinkets and figurines are what others are looking for. For a third set of people, some life might be needed to bring to the room. The perfect creature for display can be found if you look for taxidermy for sale.

Depending on where you look, these can be difficult to find or they can be incredibly easy. The internet gives a lot more options than you had, before. You might, however, want to look for something in person.

After all, these are going to be displayed in your home if you find the right one. You want to make sure that it has been stuffed, correctly. This can go wrong or be done poorly, and you do not want to end up with that.

It is probable that the end result is not too palatable if you end up with something that has gone wrong. It can be time consuming and expensive, though, to look for something, this way, unless your source is really good. On the internet, you can find resources that can help you find the good quality animals that you want if you take a little time to search.

Obviously, this way, it is more difficult to know whether a business will give you good quality taxidermy, however. You might want to do a bit of investigating to make sure that they do. You could try looking up the company on a search engine of your choice, which might give you some reviews.

There may even be reviews on the site, itself. Some places will offer you the opportunity to leave a testimony to describe how good the product and the service was. This will give you a good idea of whether the animals reach the level of quality that others have wanted.

The type of animal you want to buy is also very important to think about. It could be a rodent or a moose mount that you want, so this is what you should start searching for. You should definitely consider this before making a purchase.

Definitely have a look on the site or in the store to see what is available, as well. It could be that you have a particular thing in mind, but something else might get your attention. You may find something that you had not even considered, but would fit perfectly with what you had in mind.

Cost, of course, is another thing that you probably want to keep in mind. It is worth comparing similar products to see if you can have what you want for less. You might, though, want to consider getting the more expensive option.

The cheaper option may still be of low quality, and value for your money is an important thing. It is not worth paying less for the bear taxidermy you would like if you have to pay more to bring it to the standard you want, after all. When searching for taxidermy for sale, you should make sure to look around enough to find what you want at an appropriate price.

Some Basic Beginners Ghost Hunting Tips To Follow

By Rebekah Alford

When it comes to finding ghosts, it is impossible to give out any hard and fast rules. The phenomenon of ghostly activity has, as yet, few binding scientific rules as to how to investigate supernatural occurrences. If you are considering going out investigating though, there are some basic ghost hunting tips it is wise to follow.

First of all, as you tend to be going out night looking for spooks, it is best to do it in pairs or small groups. This is for safety's sake as much as anything else. While it is impossible as yet to say whether or not ghosts are the spirits of the dead, manifesting themselves on earth, it is possible to say that there are some very real humans who might be out to hurt you when it is dark.

As investigators into this kind of phenomenon tend to be out and about at night, it pays to carry a torch. This might seem obvious, but it is surprising how many people forget this basic piece of equipment. It is also worth remembering to take spare batteries, and possibly a spare torch as well.

In order to record any of the scientific observations that you make, you will also need to be able to make notes. Never rely on technology for this, as batteries run down and equipment malfunctions. Instead, take a small notebook and several pencils, as pencils can be sharpened and do not run out ink.

You will need some kind of technological equipment in order to capture any images and sounds which may occur during your expedition. While mobile phones now incorporate many recording features into their designs as standard, it is wise not to relay entirely on them. Take proper cameras and something that will record a good quality of sound.

It helps with this kind of activity to be accompanied by people who have done it before and know what they are doing. That way, you are more likely to be purposeful in your search, and perhaps be fortunate enough to generate some data, rather than wasting time looking in the wrong places or for the wrong things. It is also more fun to be properly organized rather than wandering around aimlessly in the dark somewhere.

As you tend to be out and about in the dark, conditions can be cold and the ground can be uneven. Clothing is therefore very important. Wear sensible, warm clothes which will also keep you dry in case of west weather, and shoes such as trainers which have grip and can provide some stability on the ground in the dark.

If you follow some of these basic ghost hunting tips then you should at least be properly equipped for anything which might occur. As a way of starting out, these are useful pointers which will help keep you relaxed and enjoying yourself. Enjoyment really is the key to any activity, so if you want to take it to the next level, join a local club or society.

How to Shop for a Quality Bedside Gun Safe

By Dustin Aaron

A bedside gun safe is the most advantageous trade off between rapid access to your weapon and keeping it out of the reach of anyone that shouldn't touch it. Having a gun close by may help save the lives of everyone in your home or yourself.

There are a bunch of bedside safes; they can run from less than $50 to over $300. Locking systems will vary from a key, dial combination, numerical key pad, no eyes keypad or biometric. A safe that utilizes a key as the only access may be immensely dependable but in a stress situation and with limited or no light may not be ideally suited for quick access. The exact same is correct for a dial combination. A numerical keyboard will be a little better but once again under anxiety you may not be able to open it.

Most people's choice would be the no eyes touch pad. These can be 4 big buttons beside each other or 4 or five buttons that are presented in the profile of your hand. Normally there is an indentation for your hand to slide in, supplying you a strong feel for all the buttons. You can define your own combination that will be very simple to recall but very unlikely for anybody else to come up with, some safes have the capacity to press two buttons together as a part of the combo. This will genuinely reduce the chances of someone else accessing it. A large number of safes have a functionality that will turn it off if the incorrect combo has been registered too many times. Then it will have to be reset by means of a key and reprogramming the system.

It is genuinely important to mount your safe to something secure. Not only does this prohibit anybody from stealing it, it will keep the safe in its place when you are unlocking it. You should be able to access it without rolling out of bed. Rehearse opening up your safe. When it is committed to muscle memory it will be easily performed in a crisis. You can buy the most technologically advanced gun safe on the internet but if you can't use it under stress and while barely awake it is practically useless.

When you decide to acquire your safe, research to ensure that what you are buying is dependable. You are choosing this to potentially save lives, not to have the latest fancy gun safe technology. There are many quality bedside gun safes to choose from so make sure you get one that is known for its reliability.

Things to Consider When Purchasing a Concealed Carry Backup Gun

By Dustin Aaron

There are several arguments about the concealed carry lifestyle. Nobody seems to be talking about whether we should carry backup guns. Chances are slim that you will ever actually deploy your primary defense, but you should not assume that you will never need a backup. If and when you ever actually do need it, you will be grateful that you had it.

There are thousands of great backup handgun manufacturers out there. One thing to reflect on is how easy the firearm is to operate. If you are going to pass this gun off to someone else it should definitely be easy to fire. I would not look for one with a safety, as this can get in the way in an emergency situation.

Choosing a caliber is one of the most difficult choices. The caliber determines the total amount of bullets you can carry. Additionally, you really need something with stopping power. Smaller rounds will not perform their intended function. In self-protection the most valuable goal is to stop the assailant as quickly as possible.

Another decision to make when you are choosing a backup pistol is how and where you will wear it on your body. You will have to choose a location that is not obvious to observers, but is also easily accessed. Ankle holsters are perfect for concealed carry backup guns, but you must wear pants. Pocket holsters are great for concealed carry backup guns, however, this limits you to carrying a very small backup gun. You must carry the gun in a pocket holster and not just slip it in your pocket because car keys can easily get caught on the trigger. Also consider that belly bands are great for backup gun concealed carry. They are also making concealed carry undergarments these days.

These are just a few of the options to consider when you decide to purchase a backup gun. It is important that you actually go to the range and fire a few of these backup guns before you make your final decision. You should also talk to the range employees to get their opinion and consult a shooting instructor as well. Good luck and choose carefully.

How to Choose the Right Knife

By Phillip Ford

When you begin searching for the right knife, you may be overwhelmed with the choices, and wonder how to decide. First, ask yourself what you expect the knife to do. Is it for hunting or do you want one in your emergency survival kit. One quality knife can perform both tasks, and the same knife can be for personal protection if that is also a concern. However, so-called combat knifes, or fighting knives are not suited for skinning game and chopping wood in a survival situation.

When searching for knives look for all one-piece knives. The handle should be an extension of the blade. Otherwise, there is a weak point where the handle is connected to the blade sometimes by glue. Hollow handles mean the knife is not what is called a full tang knife. Manufactures, sell the concept of a hollow handle by including fish line, matches in the handle or even making the cap for the handle a compass. Wooden handles are not recommended because they will become water damaged and wood will shrink away from the handle and eventually crack.

Wooden handled knives will wear faster and may crack over time if not properly cared for. Rubber or polymer handles are impervious to moisture and chemicals. Many knives claim to be survival knives yet they have dagger like blades sharpened on both sides. This makes the knife difficult to chop with or use the knife to create a spark with a flint rod without dulling the blade. Having both sides of the knife sharp means, you have a greater chance of cutting yourself as well.

Knife blades can be made of high carbon steel and stainless steel. Both are quality materials and the difference is that carbon blades will rust if not treated but because the metal is harder than stainless, they stay sharp longer. Stainless steel is durable and is suited for marine use because saltwater has no effect on stainless whereas saltwater will corrode carbon steel quickly.

Stainless is virtually impervious to water and saltwater but will dull faster but can be sharpened quickly whereas carbon steel being harder requires more time and labor to put the edge back. Typically, stainless steel blades are made either of 440 or 420 stainless with chromium added for corrosion resistance. The 440 stainless has more carbon in the blade making it slightly harder than 420 stainless.

Knives used in the field have to be tough because you cannot have multiples of knives for various jobs so one knife has to do it all. You may have to pry open a can one day and chop small pieces of wood the next and the knife must not suffer from the tasks. A knife that is not full tang will not be up to the job and the handle will break off leaving you in a possibly dire situation.

The backside will be hammered on with wood blocks or even other metal to drive the blade through material. Keep the length between six and nine inches for handling all tasks to include detail work such as trimming small pieces of wood or even cutting up food. Wooden, bone and hollowed handled knifes will not hold up under this type of work.

Fancy handles and saw blades on the backside of the knife generally do not do much to enhance the knife's performance. Some people do like serrated edges, however, experts will tell you once the serrations are dulled they stay dull because it requires special tools to sharpen the edges. Serrated blades on either side of the blade do help saw through heavy rope, but do not saw wood well, and if you do have a large rope to cut through use a chopping motion it will be much quicker.

The Best Concealed Carry Gun: Is Useless Without a Great Flashlight

By Dustin Aaron

There are two tools that you must carry as a concealed handgun enthusiast. You should always travel with a reliable flashlight. A good flashlight is at least 150 lumens bright with a four hour batter life at full power. I found a flashlight at my local hardware store for eight dollars including batteries. The flashlight I purchased had a seven hour battery life and an edge with a crown on it, also known as a strike bezel, that allows the flashlight to be used for close range personal defense. I purchased a flashlight to carry personally, one for my truck, one for my house, one for my brother, and a spare to keep around just in case. At eight dollars per package, it was a great buy.

If you are someone who always has to have the latest and greatest technology, then you can buy the one hundred and fifty-five dollar, five hundred lumen Fury flashlight made by Surefire Flashlights.

Let me tell you why you need to carry a flashlight with you at all times. It could turn into a real life-saver when you least expect it. My uncle was in an underground subway during a power outage. There were no lights and no backup power. He turned to his trusty old eight dollar flashlight and showed everyone else how to get out. Once they reached daylight, everyone was shocked to find that he wasn't a safety officer.

Just carrying a flashlight in a dark situation could tell a potential assailant that you are not a sheep and it would be better to find an easy target. I imagine being able to illuminate some dude in 200 focused lumens and say, "Stop. Let me see your hands. Don't come any closer." It sounds foolish, but if it keeps me from having to fight somebody, I'm all for it. Any time I leave the house at night, I'm carrying a flashlight.

Several intelligent people carry pocket knives. I wear one clipped to my belt and it is very helpful. When I was a teen, my father gave me a limited run pocket knife. It has a three inch blade and is comfortable to carry every day. Last week I was shopping and saw a great pocket knife made by Winchester that was priced very reasonable. It had serrated edges so I purchased it.

A pocket knife will always prove useful. Opening boxes, cutting wrapping, cutting cords, and the list continues. My mother thinks I'm insane because I keep imagining situations where my pocket knife or flashlight will save the day. It's true that most of these situations never come to pass. But I will be prepared if they do.
