Alternatives to Traditional Concealed Carry Holsters

By Dustin Aaron

There are several alternative carry holsters that have recently become available. Some people do not like to wear inside the waist band holsters or outside the waistband holsters, and if so, one of the following holsters might better suit you.

Shoulder holsters can be very easy to disguise. These holsters are prevalent with plain clothes detectives and other experts who wear a suit on a daily basis. They can also be worn underneath a shirt but may slow down your gaining access time. Shoulder holsters are extremely comfortable and allocate the weight across your shoulders much like a backpack so that you can carry a large weapon.

Fanny packs are another option of concealed carry. You can procure a pack purposely designed to carry your pistol that has an inner compartment just for your gun. There will typically be a Velcro strap to pull away for fast access. Most people would not consider wearing a fanny pack, but they can be a sensible option for anybody who is an avid jogger.

Concealment underclothes are a new addition to the market place. Typically they are little more than just a pair of undergarments with a hidden pocket for your handgun. Obviously, these make great options for anyone who likes to jog or wear a concealed pistol while they perform their exercise routine. These allow incredibly fast access if you are not sitting down.

Belly band holsters are an exceptional concealment alternative. They are just an elastic band that goes around your abs with a pocket to hold your weapon. You have to wear a loose shirt with these holsters, but they allow you to tuck your shirt in if you desire. This type of holster is generally best for lighter firearms.

While ankle holsters do not allow quick access to your gun, they are an excellent method to conceal your backup handgun. Many police officers use ankle holsters to conceal a backup gun. Lots of people like ankle holsters because they allow you to embrace someone without them knowing that you are carrying a firearm.

After you choose to conceal carry a handgun, you might also consider utilizing one of the above non-conventional holsters instead of the more prevalent options. Whatever you choose, just be certain that your holster is comfortable enough to wear everyday.
